We are bringing together two towns that are 10 miles apart and from two different states, for a marketing initiative that benefits everyone. We understand that restaurants have been hard pressed with various challenges this past summer. The theme of this promotion from both organizations is Burgers. We have asked each participant to feature a burger, and it can be a hamburger of course, but also a burger pizza, or taco, or breakfast sandwich. More than 25 restaurants have signed up to be a part of Mystic Restaurant Week and the Westerly / Pawcatuck DBA Dine Out in Downtown 2021. Restaurants from Westerly and Pawcatuck include Mia’s Café and the Brazen Hen. For the Mystic Restaurant Week, we touch downtown, but also reach the City and Town of Groton and Olde Mistick Village with participants including Jealous Monk, Pizzetta, Margaritas, Engine Room to name a few. Chamber President Bruce Flax said “we are super-charged partnering with the Westerly / Pawcatuck DBA and what this will mean for business and the local community. To introduce Westerly/Pawcatuck restaurants to Mystic residents and vice versa, is a natural connection.” Patrons who dine in or take out from participating restaurants, for any meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner), can enter to win a load of prizes donated by GMCC Members and Westerly / Pawcatuck DBA Members. One of the goals for the Mystic Chamber this year is to promote business to business. This event starts with the restaurants but we also will call attention to our members who have donated great prizes. The contest to win prizes is easy and touchless. When eating at a participating restaurant, patrons will receive a text to win number and key word. To enter they simply need to text the key word and on November 8, winners will be drawn. Prizes have been donated by many Chamber members including the Black Dog, Stoneridge and Foxwoods. In addition, the Chamber was interested in added value to encourage people to take-out meals from participating restaurants. While supplies last, anyone who spends a minimum of $100 at a single restaurant can get a cozy fleece blanket. These will be available, while supplies last, by bringing your receipt to the new Chamber office at 22 East Main Street. Shane Belanger, current President of the Westerly/Pawcatuck Downtown Business Association, said “Restaurants have been getting beat up by supply change issues and staffing so this focus on burgers is simple and not a heavy lift for the participating restaurants! We are partnering with the Mystic Chamber to combine our efforts, reach more people, ensure restaurants stay busy and connect the two communities.” For more information about restaurant week, please visit https://www.mysticchamber.org/mystic-events-calendar/mystic-restaurant-week
