DCF - The Foster And Adoption Service Unit (FASU) within The Department of Children and Families (DCF)

DCF's MISSION:  The mission of the Department of Children and Families is to partner with communities and empower families to raise resilient children who thrive.

As part of that important role, there are times when the Department must find a home for children who temporarily – and in some cases permanently – cannot live safety at home with their own family. For this reason, the Department recruits loving families who can care for these children during a very important time. The families who foster and adopt are wonderful people who derive a great deal of satisfaction from the emotional rewards that come from developing a meaningful relationship with a child who deserves a loving home.

Organizational Strategy: Our overall strategy as an agency is to partner with communities and empower families, to raise resilient children who thrive, based on five bold strategic goals (see below). These goals have been fine-tuned to focus our direction. As part of a larger child welfare system, we will work in partnership to ensure a holistic understanding of what children and families deserve from us. We have listened to the feedback received thus far & are visualizing our strategic goals as circular – all feeding each other and into the agency’s central vision.
